Ronald Edward Demmler

February 6, 1937 – December 17, 2025

Ron Demmler of Childs, MD was born in Pittsburgh PA to John J. and Theresa E. Demmler

Ron was raised on the family farm in Jamestown, PA. where he attended Jamestown, PA schools and then Penn State University majoring in petroleum engineering. He worked on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and in potential oil fields analyzing bore samples. Next, he worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron Offices headquartered in Greenville, PA in the field of steel erection. Ron finished his career as a welder out of Boilermaker Union 13, Levittown, PA. This required extensive travel to varying job sites far and near (water towers,  trash-to-steam, nuclear power plants).

Ron was extremely ambitious and made use of his wide variety of skills. He especially enjoyed mechanical work involved in keeping his (and family and friends) vehicles in top condition. He considered this, along with maintenance of his equipment in the large steel garage that he constructed himself, as his hobby. He made sure everything relating to the house (in and out) was maintained.

Ron was a private pilot taking great pride in, and enjoyment from, his Piper Tri-Pacer. In his younger years he would fly extensively, but after retirement flew, not only locally but within surrounding states, to Flying Farmer and Short Wing Piper Club meetings and other gatherings, or merely to enjoy the flying experience.

Ron never stood still; he was busy from sun-up to sundown. The health conditions he developed throughout this year (heart problem and bone cancer) were especially hard for him because they deprived him of his energy. He could do less and less until he was confined to the house and then bed. He was miserable and ready to go.

Ron leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Rebecca at home, son Brian (Ocean City, MD), daughter Brenda (Bear, DE), brother Jack (Jamestown, PA), sister Florence (Wexford, PA), sister Marlene (Lake Jackson, TX) and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. The final arrangements are private.
