Ronald (Ron) A. Elville, age 81, of Annapolis, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He was born on December 31, 1942, in Baltimore, MD. Ronald was the son of the late Donald Stuart Elville, and Anna Virginia (Holbrook) Elville.
Ron’s life was a testament to faith, service and dedication. He proudly served as a pastor for 40 years in the states of Maryland, Tennessee and North Carolina, enriching lives with his spiritual guidance and unwavering commitment. Ron was passionate about mission work and serving communities in need. He often lent his talents toward physical constructions and was deeply invested in building relationships with the people in those communities. Ron’s mission work led him to many places, some as close as next door, and others as far reaching as India and Latvia. His role as pastoral counselor provided comfort and wisdom to many during their times of need. Ron was an alum of Carson Newman College, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In his personal life, Ron was a man of many interests and passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer and waterfowl hunting. In his younger years he enjoyed big game hunting in Canada. Ron’s love for nature extended to gardening, where he took pride in growing a large variety of vegetables. Ron also had a great, lifelong enthusiasm for sports. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid softball player. Ron even made his mark as a minor league baseball player, showcasing his athletic abilities. Music was another passion of Ron’s and he found immense pleasure and fulfillment listening to gospel music. Ron also loved to sing and cherished his time as member of the State Line Quartet. Ron’s love for ice cream cannot be understated and he could often be found enjoying a scoop or two and trying to persuade you to join him. Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Jean Ann Shires Elville; son, Stephen R. Elville (wife, Deborah); daughter, Tracy Crowe-Elville (wife, Colleen); grandchildren: Christian M. Crowe, Lucille A. Skinkle (Robert), Bryan M. Siske (Erin), and Bradley J. Siske (Nikki); great-grandchildren: Danika Ramsey, Emma Siske, Gavin Siske, Brody Siske, and Mia Siske; and sister, Donna Badger (husband, Anthony); and nieces Tanya Badger Mason (husband, Ritch), and Rebecca Badger Rollman (husband, Jarrod).
In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Elville.
A celebration of Ronald’s life will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Conowingo Baptist Church, 151 Rock Springs Road, Conowingo, MD 21918, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Conowingo Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Operation Smile”, sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., P.O.
