Roldon Ray (Don) Dermyer, 71, of Elkton, MD passed away suddenly October 12, 2012 at his home.
Born in Tecumseh, MI on November 29, 1940, Don was the son of the late Frederick A. and Ruth (Mattis) Dermyer. He was a graduate of Adrian High School and the Maryland Banking School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Don was Vice President of Peoples Bank of Elkton and retired from First Data of Wilmington, DE. Active in the community, he was past president of the Elkton Kiwanis and the Elkton Chamber of Commerce, former treasurer of Elkton Little League and was active with the Cecil County March of Dimes. He was a devoted family man, whose hobbies included boating, fishing, crabbing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed watching his grandson, Cody, play football and spending time with his grandson, Daniel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Betty Stewart Dermyer; his loving daughter, Tonya Lobach and her husband Mark; two grandsons, Cody Allen Dermyer and Daniel Ryan Lobach; five brothers, Robert Dermyer and his wife Patty of MI, Mike Dermyer and wife Betty of MI, Edward Dermyer and wife Jenny of CO, Frederick Dermyer and wife Deborah of GA and John Dermyer and wife Chris of WI; and four sisters, Anita Nagel and husband George of GA, Freida Dermyer of CO, Martha Dermyer of GA, and Joan Davis and husband Phil of GA, and many nieces and nephews.
A service honoring his life will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921 on Wednesday October 17, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Friends and family my call at the funeral home beginning at 4 pm. Burial will be private. I was shocked to find out that Don had passed. I met him about 25 years ago in the old Swiss Inn Days. He was always smiling and had a good word.
