I remember a Chief Cumm (don't remember his first name) who was at the Bainbridge Naval Training Center in 1958. I don't know if your Robert W. Cumm is the same person that I knew, but if so, I want to express my sincere belated condolences. The Chief Cumm I knew was a fine man who was very good to me. He made me his Assistant Master at Arms that summer of 1958 while I was waiting to be discharged (in September of that year). He assigned me an office down the hall from his and also assigned me a parking space beside the office building. He chose me to be his Assistant Master at Arms after inspecting the barracks I had been assigned to keep clean while waiting my discharge. He told me that he had never before seen those barracks so sparkling clean ! I'm writing my autobiography and including in it my time working with Chief Cumm. I hope your Robert W. Cumm is the same Chief Cumm that I knew because I would like to include his given names as well as his surname. If Bob is that same person, I would love to know (his face in that photo does look familiar). I can be reached at the following e-mail address: rcorder91@aol.com
Most Sincerely,
Robert G. "Bob" Corder

Mommom I am so sorry that poppop is gone, but I know he is in a better place now. I am so glad my family and I were able to see him one last time. I miss him so much and will always remember all the great times I have spent with him and you. He was a great man and I am proud to have him as my grandfather. I love you.
