Robert Terry Hershey, age 86, of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024. He was born on March 18, 1938, in Somerset, PA, to the late Dr. William O. Hershey, and Rebecca A. (Smith) Hershey.

Robert served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959. His dedication and sacrifice demonstrated his commitment to his country and his fellow servicemen. Robert’s love for history led him to pursue a career as a history teacher in West Grove, PA. During the summer months, Robert would spend his time painting houses. He was a previous member of New Life Alliance Church in Newark, DE, where he enjoyed spending time with fellow members. Robert loved going shopping and found solace in running. He enjoyed keeping busy and was constantly on the go.

Robert is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sylvia Rothenbacher; children: Robert Dean Hershey (Linda), James Lynn Hershey (Audrey), and Teresa Ann Hershey; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Mary H. Knopsnyder; and many nieces and nephews.
