Robert Edwin Shallcross, age 86 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Robert was born on August 7, 1937, in Wilmington, DE to the late Herbert E. Shallcross, and Dorothy M. (Fountain) Shallcross.

Robert was a longtime business owner in the Rising Sun community. He was also a former Director and board member of the National Bank of Rising Sun. Robert was an active member and a past president of the Lions Club. He enjoyed being involved on town committees. Robert, a member of Janes United Methodist Church, was a loving, funny, compassionate man. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching the grandkids play sports. Robert loved going to the beach and body surfing with his grandkids. He was a good joke teller and will be known as the “Scrapple King”.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Shallcross; daughters: Sue Ann Hougentogler (Steve), and Linda Holsten; grandchildren: Kyle VanDyke (Lindsey), Christopher Hougentogler, Carrie Webberking (Adam), and Kelly Denn (Josh); four great-grandchildren and one on the way; and sister, Carolyn Russ.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his son, Greg Shallcross.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 11:00 am on January 12, 2024, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 am. The burial will be private.
