Robert “Bob” Walter Sweeney, age 77, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020. He was born on August 2, 1942 to Mary Ann (Winkler) Miles and the late Samuel Calvin Sweeney.
Bob worked for General Motors as a Foreman for 34 years before retiring. During his free time, Bob enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, golfing, and writing poetry. He had a great love for nature and animals. He was at his best when spending time with friends and family, especially when playing scrabble with his granddaughter. Bob was an extremely caring, compassionate, loving man, who was always giving to others. He was a family man and a very supportive father and grandfather. Bob will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Sheila Sweeney and her husband, Richard Crouse; granddaughter, Savannah Crouse and her brother, Nathan; mother, Mary Ann Miles; and sister, Marsha Cornett. In addition to his father, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Sweeney and former wife, Karen; and several nieces and nephew.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s honor may be made payable to, “Ashley Addiction Treatment” and send in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
