Robert (Bob) Allen Fisher, 102, of Newark, DE, formerly of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025.

Born in Port Deposit, MD at Mt. Ararat Farm on September 13, 1923, he was the son of the late John Allen and Addie Mae (Lynch) Fisher.

Bob is survived by his son; Harry Fisher, of Rising Sun, MD, daughter; Mary Alice Jackson (Pete) of Port Deposit, MD, daughter; Carole Sexton (Raymond) of Rising Sun, MD. Grandchildren; Steve Jackson, Dylan Fisher, Ashlee Reed (Eric) and Ryan Sexton (Skye). Great Grandchildren; Sonny, Brooklyn, Hunter, Memphis, Carsyn and Sage; and many nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Jacob Tome School in 1941, at age 19 he served in the Army from 1942-1946, during WWII, he was a technician in communications, stationed in India. After he left the Army he was a livestock dealer and an assembly line worker at Chrysler in Newark, DE, building tanks, then went to Shallcross Butcher Shop, then started working at Army TECOM facility at APG, as an engineer. He married the late Mary Alice Brammer, on February 7, 1947, and had their four children.

Bob attended the University of Delaware, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, in 1957. He furthered his education getting his Master’s Degree in business administration from George Washington University in 1978.

He has served in the local government and was a member of the United Nations Association of the USA, Rising Sun Town Commissioner, Rising Sun and Charlestown Town Administrator, as well as Mayor of Rising Sun at 90 years old. In the late 1990’s he volunteered for the Organization for Security and Cooperation In Europe (OSCE) by going to Bosnia for 8 weeks to register voters, then later returned to oversee the election. On 9/11, he was in NYC for a UN Council meeting, blocks away from the attack. During his life he was involved with the Rising Sun Little League (at its inception), President of Rising Sun PTA, a member of the American Legion Post 194, Lion’s Club and Cecil Land Trust. He volunteered to do taxes through VITAS and AARP for over 10 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters; Evelyn Spencer and Dorothy Harrington, as well as his daughter; Linda Fisher.

Even in death he continues to help and educate others by donating his body to the anatomy department at University of Delaware. He will be deeply missed by his family.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025, 11am-2pm at American Legion Post 194 in Rising Sun, MD.
