Robert A. Pierce, 73, of Newark, DE, passed away at home surrounded by his family on June 21, 2016. Born on August 5, 1942 in West Grove, PA, he was son of the late John S. and Edna Mae (Steward) Pierce. Robert attended the Auburn Regular Baptist Church. He loved bowling with the Oxford League as well as playing softball for Hoffman’s Haven.

Robert is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley A. Pierce; stepson, Josh Peirson; and six siblings: Elmer, Kennedy, James, Boyd, Jane, and Joe; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, John Pierce, Jr.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 12 PM on Monday, June 27, 2016 at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “NICU Helping Hands” and sent care of the funeral home or Tammy Milburn, 192 Booth Road, Elkton, MD 21921.
