Rita D. Funk of Rising Sun, MD, age 62, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She was born on December 29, 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Dick Kellner and Helen (Firestone) Kellner.
Rita was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Rising Sun Fire Company for over 40 years, an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the American Legion Post 194 and loved spending time with her family and her “grand-puppy” Lily. She supported other fire companies bingo events, cherished her grandson, Eric and loved spending time with her neighbors and drinking coffee on the porch with them.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Jordan and her fiancé, Alan Rudd, her grandson, Eric Jordan; step-son Brian Funk and his wife, Renee, granddaughter, Katie Funk, sisters: Donna Ramsay and her husband, David of Lawrenceville, PA, and Lorna Bennett . In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Lee; grandson, Tyler Lee Jordan; sister, Kathleen Whitecavage; and her brother-in-law, Frank Whitecavage.
Services in Rita’s honor will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at 11AM at Conowingo Baptist Church, 151 Rock Springs Rd., Conowingo, MD 21918. Family and friends may begin visiting at 10AM. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Memorial contributions in Rita’s honor may be made payable to “Cancer Care at Union” and sent in care of the funeral home, R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

Becky, Rita is my cousin. My mom, Ruth, and her dad were brother and sister. I haven't seen Rita since we were kids, but I have great memories of her...playing softball in her back yard in Md., family dinners at Aunt Faye's, talking about boyfriends in Jr. high, brushing Kathleen's hair (not a pleasant job, one had to distract her while the other brushed). We played on a tire swing at my house. Even though we lost touch, I feel a deep loss. I loved her. My prayers are for her family. You all must be special too.

With a heavy heart I must say good bye to a wonderful lady. God saw she was growing tired and a cure was not there, he put his arms around her and whispered come with me. God took an angel and will forever watch over all of us. Prayers and love to Rita's family. Rita now is in a beautiful garden of flowers which she is right up front. Rest in Peace and fly high.
