Spent a great deal of time at their house as a young person. Mr. Beacher was always kind to me. As kids he probably didn't have much appreciation for the Beatle's, Doors and Sly and the family Stone records. A lot of it I heard for the first time in there house. One thing I remember distinctly about Mr. Beacher. He ate more pepper than anyone I have ever met, lol. He also had a love for gardening. he was the only person I've met in my life that grew things like root vegetables even in the winter. Very nice man. All of you should be proud that you had him as a dad. He served our country in war and appeared to be a devoted father and husband. May God bless you all and I hope you realize the good qualities you have, and maybe some bad ones partially came from him.

Richard will be forever honored by all Beacher family members for his service to his country in three wars, a tradition Richard carried on from his father Alfred (1892-1963) who served in World War I and his grandfather William (1838-1900) who served in the Civil War and his 3rd great-grandfather Jacob (1758-1842) who served in the American Revolution. His Beacher ancestry was documented by family historian Bruce Franklin Beacher (1919-2004) so thankfully Richard's family tree is now shared at http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/418.htm God Bless. I met Richard in November 1959.. We shared a duplex in spring Lake, North Carolina.he was already a staff Sgt. and I a mere private e-2. I remember sitting on the back porch polishing my boots and preparing to start jump school., we struck up a conversation and proudly developed an instant relationship. I vividly recall how he took me under his wing and became my most value mentor. I attribute all my military success to his professional guidance and unwavering devotion to duty. That was paramount in his life. The only thing he cherished more than that, was his wonderful devoted wife, Peggy Jo. Whom, by the way was instrumental in the indoctrination of the military way of life to my wife Betty. my wife and I successfully took to heart their wonderful words of wisdom throughout our military career. I remember being on Sicily drop zone manning a static display for the 4.2 inch mortar. there was to be a mass jump that day, consisting of approximately 12 to 15 aircraft.as the aircraft approach way out in the distance. All of a sudden there was a lone parachute in the air. it was only later that I found out that it was the illustrious Sgt. Beacher [ whom was the jump master of that particular aircraft] and lo and behold as he leaned out the door to check the upcoming drop zone............. He fell out and landed only God knows where. I could not believe when he told me the story because he was such a perfectionist in everything he said and did. we were at the NCO club that night and we both laughed & laughed. a historical fact that everyone may find very interesting happened when we were both stationed in Okinawa.: Col. Tate, was a neighbor and friend to us both.. He had two teenage daughters. They used to babysit both our families. . Oddly enough,, the oldest of the two went on to become a movie star.. Her name was Sharon Tate, and if you recall, she was one of the victim of the Manson family massacre.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I love you. I will miss you always. I will remember every single memory, and visit our tree often. One of the things that makes this easier is knowing that you remembered where we planted it even at the end. See you later.

Some of my fondest memories as a child growing up in Pleasant Hill was at the Beacher home. I spent the night with Al many times and Mr. Beacher really scared me and I'm not really sure why. Maybe it was my experiences with my own dad, but he never had a cross word to say to me. He always seemed to be working in his garden. Really a very nice man . Ricky and Al introducing me to a lot of music. You guys seemed to have the entire collection of Beatle's music, The Door's, and Sly and the Family Stone. But my heart really goes out to all of you, I guess I forgot to mention Linda. I remember all of you fondly and my heart really goes out to you all. May God bless you and keep you.
