Richard Darney, 75, of Conowingo, MD, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Union Hospital.
Born March 12, 1939, in Vestaburg, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Rose Darney. Richard retired from Aberdeen Proving Grounds after being a transportation operator for the US Government motor pool. He also retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of Service. Richard was a Steelers fan and enjoyed watching the games and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his Daughter Deanna Pinner & her husband Mark of, Brooksville, FL; stepsons, Wayne Nichols & his wife Shirley of Conowingo, MD, Edward Nichols & his wife Carrie of, Conowingo, MD, Rick Nichols & his companion Denise Paugh of, Bel Air, MD, Randy Nichols & his wife Patty of, Northeast, MD, and Ralph Nichols & his wife Melisa of, Rising Sun, MD; Stepdaughters, Dianna Malpas & her husband Bruce of Fulton, IL, Phyllis Steinhauer & her husband Arthur of, Conowingo, MD, Suzie Ewing & her husband Steve of, Colora, MD, and Pamela Nichols-Saunders & her husband John of, Conowingo, MD; sisters, Rose Janet Keys & her husband Tom of, Carmichael, PA, and Kathleen Ostrem of, AZ. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents Richard is preceded in death by his Wife Helen, Stepson, Marvin Nichols, one grandchild, and 2 brothers.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Services for Richard will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 also at the funeral home where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Conowingo Baptist Cemetery.
