Raymond Paul Ferguson, Jr., 59, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was born on February 22, 1964, in Tyrone, PA, the cherished son of Raymond, Sr., and Carol (nee, Mock) Ferguson. Ray was the devoted husband of Sandra Ferguson.
Ray’s professional life was marked by dedication and warmth as a well-known Independent Operator for both Thomas Bagels and Arnold Bread Company, serving grocery stores throughout Cecil County. His gregarious and generous nature endeared him to many, and he was always ready to lend a caring hand to anyone who needed help.
Away from work, Ray found joy in following the Phillies, Steelers, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His love for golf, meticulous lawn care, and family pool time reflected his passion for life’s simple pleasures. Family vacations to the Outer Banks were a cherished tradition, and Christmas held a special place in his heart. Known affectionately as “Poppy Clause,” Ray delighted in spoiling his family and especially his grandchildren during the Holiday Season.
Ray’s sense of humor was a defining characteristic, and he often played practical jokes on those he loved. His laughter and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
In addition to his parents, Ray is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Ferguson; daughters: Stephanie Gobble and her husband Joshua, Lindsay Ferguson; three grandchildren; and siblings: Laura Ferguson, Christy Smart and husband Don, Darin Ferguson and wife Ann, and Tina Vassalotti and husband Tony.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Saturday December 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests bringing an unwrapped toy to be donated to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots.
May Ray’s memory live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and may the shared moments of joy and laughter provide comfort during this difficult time. To send online condolences, please visit www.rtfoard.com.
