Raymond J. Schaal, age 91, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2018. Born on March 2, 1927 in Wilmington, DE, Raymond was the son of the late Joseph P. and Cora R. (Ray) Schaal.
Raymond was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII on the USS Los Angeles. Following the war, Raymond worked as a personnel manager for Beneficial Life Insurance Company and during the 1960s, he worked and traveled with Rodney H. Sharp. He was also an entrepreneur, owning and operating two businesses throughout his life. First he owned a liquor store but his passion for antiques is what lead him to become an antiques dealer; operating his antique shop in the Pennsbury Antique Mall for several years. Raymond was a history-buff and enjoyed learning and discovering new things about the past. His greatest passion however was his family and he cherished his time with them.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lucy Schaal; daughter, Laura DelPercio (Frederick); two granddaughters: Jennifer Morris (Ryan) and Christine Carnwath (Teddy). He is also survived by his brother, Henry T. Schaal (Rachel) and five great grandchildren.
