Randall D. Shippy, age 50, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Wilmington, DE to R. Dean and AvaJo (Hilner) Shippy.
Randy graduated from Newark High School in 1980 and the University of Delaware in 1984. He was a member of the UD Alpha Zeta honorary fraternity. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts and earned the Eagle Scout Award in 1979.
Randy worked for DeKalb-Pfizer Genetics for several years in a number of midwestern and eastern locations. Most recently, he worked for Trader Joe’s.
He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; sons, Ryan D. and wife, Lauren of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Eric M. of West Palm Beach, FL; daughter Jennifer L. of Wilmington, DE; parents, R. Dean and AvaJo of Newark, DE; sister, Lisa Kenney and her husband David of Bear, DE; granddaughter, Ella; and in-laws Don and Shirley Willhite of Newark, DE.
A service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Concord Baptist Church, 2510 Marsh Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810. Friends and family may visit two hours prior beginning at 10 AM. Interment following the services will be at Chester Bethel cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations made out to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care c/o R.T. Foard & Jones F.H., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
