














































































Ralph Duane Lyons Jr. of Newark, DE, age 73, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021. Ralph was born on February 10, 1947 in Wilmington, DE to the late Ralph Duane Lyons Sr. and Lucille Daisy (White) Ellsworth.
Ralph served in the Marines from 1966-1972 and in the Echo 2.9 from 1966-1967. During his time in the Marines he received many medals and honors: Vietnam Commendation medal, Presidential Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service medal with 2 stars, Vietnam Campaign medal, National Defense medal, Combat Action ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, good conduct, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm and frame, 3 rifle expert shooter badges with bar, pistol 45 expert and a 3 time recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club, rode motorcycles and went on trips with his wife to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ralph was a jack of all trades and a master of duct tape and screws.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Denise Lyons; children: Shay Lyons and his wife, Desiree, Dawn Whisenhunt and her husband, Mark, Christian Lyons, Christopher Ciconte and his significant other, Marian Handlin, Nicole Falgowski and her significant other, Chris; 13 grandchildren: Allyssa, Michaella, Lynnea, Shay Michael, Jenna, Maggie, Cody, Giovanni (Gio), Lizzie, Jack, Dash, James, and Brittany.
In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by his son, Shawn Lyons.
Services for Ralph will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Semper Fi Fund” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
