Phyllis Jean Barrett, 69, of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 13, 1955, in Lewisburg, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of Reba Gray Blankenship and the devoted wife of Edward Barrett, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Phyllis embraced the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in caring for her home and family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Known for her exceptional culinary skills, she delighted her family with delicious meals and cherished the moments spent together around the dinner table. Phyllis also had a knack for finding bargains at yard sales, a hobby she thoroughly enjoyed.
A lover of television, Phyllis never missed an episode of her favorite soap operas and game shows, particularly “The Price is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune.” Her presence was a constant source of comfort and joy to her family and friends.
Phyllis was a faithful member of the Oxford Church of God, where her beautiful singing voice blended harmoniously with the congregation. Her quiet, gentle, and kind nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Barrett; her daughter, Tara Johnson, and her husband Bruce; her son, Edward Barrett III; and her grandchildren: Ashley Campbell and her husband Dylan, William Johnson, Mikey Johnson, Brionna Barrett, and Arionna Barrett. She is also survived by her beloved aunt, Imajean Nunley, along with a multitude of extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 1:30PM to 2:30PM at the Oxford Church of God, located at 198 Barnsley Road, Oxford, Pennsylvania. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at 2:30PM. Interment will be at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park.
Phyllis’s gentle spirit, loving heart, and unwavering faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
