Philip Dube, of Brunswick ME, passed away Friday, May 3, 2103. He was the son of Philip and Alice (Laviguer) Dube.
In Philip’s younger years he was an Eagle Scout and worked in his father’s store. He was a star football player on the Brunswick High Football team until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. Philip served on a destroyer in the Pacific. Upon returning home he attended the University of Maine on a football scholarship. In 1948, Philip was the Golden Gloves light heavyweight champion of New England.
Philip was survived by his son William Michael Dube and his wife Nancy M. Oakes; granddaughter Altair L. Dube; step-daughter Jeanette Winslow and husband Kent; and grandchildren Jenny and Jeff Eilers of Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service in Philip’s honor will take place from 7 to 9pm Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Elkton VFW, 108 W. High Street, Elkton MD 21921where family and friends are welcome.
