Peter John Skopowski, aged 61, of Newark, DE, passed away January 13, 2024. Peter was born in Darby, PA, on December 2, 1962 to the late Paul and Jean (Uzmann) Skopowski.

Peter was a 1980 Mt. Pleasant High School graduate and attended the University of Delaware before graduating from Goldey-Beacom College. Peter had a long customer service career and worked at Highmark Delaware at the time of his death.

A devout Catholic, Peter found strength and comfort as a faithful member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Peter was a proud Eagle Scout who enjoyed sharing his scouting experience with his sons as an adult leader for Pack 56 and Troop 250 in Newark. His Scouting experience instilled his lifelong love of camping and the outdoors. Besides his family, Peter’s strongest passion was disc golf which developed to 40+ years of camaraderie with a close group of friends.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Heidi; his beloved sons John Ferris Skopowski and Warren Skopowski; John’s fiancée Sarah Pereira and her daughter Harper; brothers Paul Skopowski (Theresa); Frank Skopowski (Mary); Stephen Skopowski (Jolanta); sister Mary Skopowski; and sister-in-law Wendy Schuchardt (Ben). He was preceded in death by his brother, John Skopowski.

A visitation for Peter will be held 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, January 19, 2024, at R. T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE. His funeral mass at Holy Family Catholic Church will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024.  Visitation will start at 10:00am with the service starting at 11:00am. A private family burial will be held in Head of Christiana Cemetery.
