

Peter Dirk Eggink, 67, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 5, 2017. Born on August 22, 1949 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Jack and Lyn Eggink.
Peter served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era – serving in the Atlantic Theatre, taught in the New Castle County public schools, and worked for DuPont Nemours for over 32 years. Peter was a model railroad enthusiast, HO scale, garden scale, ride-on-trains, and rail-fanning. He also loved to travel with his family to visit National Parks.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Ann O’Neil Eggink; daughters: Nelleka Lyn Sims (Brandon) of Albuquerque, NM, Katherine Sue Jamal (Imad) of Wilmington, DE, Colleen Nicole Mulrooney of Parkville, MD, and Brianne Marie Allerton (Michael) of Bethlehem, PA; sons: Nathan John Eggink of Middletown, DE, and David O’Neil Mulrooney (Katherine) of Newark, DE; step-mother, Helen Eggink of Plano, TX; sisters: Christine Barnekov (Tim) of North East, MD and Jacqueline Eggink of Wilmington, DE; and many close friends and extended family.
Services celebrating Peter’s life will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 503 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809, with a visitation beginning at 10AM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “American Cancer Society” and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
