Paul Robert Gilbert, Sr., age 75, of Newark, DE passed away on March 25, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 1, 1948, in Manhattan, NY. to the late James Robert Gilbert and Lorraine (Swager) Carlson.
Paul was very patriotic and served in the United States Navy. He was member of the American Legion in Long Island, NY, where he enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans. Paul enjoyed going on Royal Caribbean cruises and exploring the world with his wife, Nancy. He was passionate about his lawn and was also known for his obsession with hardwood floors, taking great pride in the maintenance of both.
Paul was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather who will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, and love.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Nancy Orza-Gilbert, his children: Denise Reidway, Paul Gilbert Jr., and Lori Messina; stepchildren: Tina Orza (Edward Santos), and Joe Orza; grandchildren: Dominick Santos, Kyle Reidway, Ali Marie Santos, and Vicky Reidway.
Services for Paul will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
