Paul L. Schlosser, Sr., age 89, of Newark, DE passed away on July 7, 2013. Paul was born in Butler, PA on April 28, 1924 to the late Garfield L. & Lillian Schlosser.
Paul graduated high school in Pierpont, Ohio, and then in 1944 he served in the Merchant Marines, serving throughout Europe for two years. In 1954 Paul obtained his plumbing and heating license and founded Schlosser Plumbing and Heating Company in Newark, DE. Paul was a member of the Plumbing and Heating Cooling Contractors Association, Newark Country Club since 1961, Wilmington Bowling Association and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1985. Paul was an avid bowler in his younger years and loved the game of golf as he grew older. Paul established Pike Creek Hills Stables in 1970 where he boarded horses. He farmed his own land as well as custom farmed for other farmers.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joanne Schlosser of Newark, DE; daughters, Nancy Connell and her husband Ron of Newark, DE, Paulette Ridgely and her husband Bob of Glen Arm, MD, Kathryn Beach and her husband Paul of Delmar, MD and Garnet Dennis and her husband Steve of Newark, DE; daughter-in-law, Sheila Papa; grandchildren, Patrick Ridgely, Natalie Ridgely, Matthew Gore, Wesley Moore, Katelin Beach, Zach Dennis, Jordan Dennis, Chris Dennis and Justin Dennis.
He was predeceased by his son, Paul L. Schlosser, Jr. who passed away May 1, 2013.
A Service will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE 19711 where family and friends may visit starting at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Cemetery.
