Paul Jeffers Thompson, 94, Avondale, PA passed away on February 27, 2021. He was one of our last WWII vets, having enlisted on his eighteenth birthday, 1944, in the Army Airforce. After serving 2 ½ years in Japan, Paul returned home to Wilmington, Delaware, where he met his future wife, Jacqueline Stewart. They were to celebrate their 73rd anniversary in April.
Paul received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware but lived many years in North Carolina working for the Du Pont Co. and later independently in the Textile Fibers business. After retiring, he became involved in the restaurant business and owned The Crab Trap Restaurant in Newark, DE for twenty-five years.
Having been an Eagle Scout himself, Paul will be remembered for his long involvement in scouting through his church in North Carolina. His other interests included golf, gardening, and traveling the world.
Paul is survived by his wife Jacqueline; son, Michael and his companion, Karen Anderson and his children, Caitlin and Hailey; daughter, Jane Rae and her husband Tom and their children, Logan and Tyler; son, Timothy Thompson and his wife Karen and their children, Brian, Joseph, Laura. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Paul Jeffers Thompson’s life will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
