Patricia Ann French, 56, of Newark, DE, passed away at her home Saturday April 27, 2013 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Huntington, WV on March 17, 1957, Patty was the daughter of Floyd and Betty Carrigan of Port St. Lucie, FL. She was a 1975 graduate of Christiana High School. She was a member of the Monday night Ladies League at Blue Hen Lanes, was a member of a Trivial Pursuit group and also enjoyed playing Bunko with her friends. She enjoyed spending time at Cherrystone Campground in Virginia. Patty was a life member of Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Ladies Auxiliary, joining the fire company in 1982. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by husband of nearly 35 years, Carl W. French of Newark; a daughter Shauna French and her fiancé Scott Estep of Newark; a brother, David Manns and his wife Sheila of Delaware City, DE; and a sister Kathy Carrigan Helsel and her husband Rodney of Myrtle Beach, SC.
A service celebrating her life will be held at Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Co., 400 Ogletown Rd. Newark DE 19711 on Friday May 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to the Aetna Ladies Auxiliary c/o R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE, 19711.

Patty, Even tho' we never met, it has been a pleasure knowing both your parents. Your Dad joined our Senior class at Granite Falls High School, Granite Falls, NC. All the girls thought he was "tall, dark and handsome." After graduation, we lost touch with him. But we always tried to find our classmates for our reunions. We met at J&S Cafeteria in Hickory after contact. My husband is also from W.VA near your Mom's home. We met again in Fla at my sister-in- law's house. And then we visited them. And we have kept in contact since then. Knowing them tells me that you were a precious much loved daughter. As a nurse, I know that your illness was a difficult cross for them to bear. But I know that God loves and cares for all of us through all our difficulties. May God bless and confort them and all the family in the days to come.
