Parker Eugene “Gene” Dean age 68, of New Castle, DE, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital. Gene was born in San Pedro, California on May 20, 1947 to the late Merritt Dean and Eveylon Skinner Dean.

Gene never let his disabilities prevent him from enjoying life. He enjoyed the sunshine, loved to fish, draw, poetry and ceramics. He worked for University of Delaware as an Administrative Assistant in the Public Safety Department.

Gene was a kind and caring person, who loved his family and was a loyal friend. He is survived by his wife Philis Price-Dean; a daughter Mary Dean, of Claymont, DE; brothers, David Robert Dean and his wife Barbara, of Elkton, MD, and James Edward Dean, and his wife, Betty, of Elkton, MD; sisters, Theresa Francine Wilson, and her husband, Norman, of Perryville, MD, and Trudy Main, of FL; foster children, Nancy Allen and Mary Quinn; and a step-daughter, Kristena Price, of East Springfield, PA.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 500 West Chestnut Hill Road, Newark, DE 19713. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service beginning at 10:30 AM. Burial will be held privately.
