Opal Grace Goad, age 89 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away July 2, 2018. She was born in Ashe County, NC on December 10, 1928 to the late William Jackson Keys and Lona Margaret (Miller) Keys.
Opal was a seamstress at Fawn Grove Manufacturing in Rising Sun, MD for over 30 years. She was also a life-long member of Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church. Opal especially loved reading her Bible and in life was completely devoted to her faith and family.
Opal is survived by her son, Ronald “Butch” Goad; son, Leonard M. Goad and his wife Laura Jane; granddaughters, Mandy Goad Schuman; Holly Geer; and Megin Ashley; grandson, Mike E. Goad; great-grandsons David Wayne Shuman, Jr.; Kevin Edward Schuman; and Isaac Ford; great-granddaughters, Emily Greer; and Miranda Greer. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister. In addition to her parents, Opal is preceded in death by her wonderful loving husband for 62 years, Leonard Goad; grandson, Michael Leonard Goad; and seven other siblings.
A celebration of Opal Grace Goad’s life will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Burial will follow after the service at West Nottingham Cemetery in Colora, MD.
