Olga Hotra Boshonek, 90, of Elkton, MD passed away on July 21, 2016. Born June 3, 1926 in Chesapeake City, MD, Olga was the daughter of the late, Alexander Hotra and Tekla (Podwirna) Hotra.Olga was married to John Boshonek at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on the Lower East Side of New York City on October 11, 1947. John had served as a Seaman’s First Class in the U.S. Navy during WWII stationed aboard several battleships. They shared 36 years of marriage before John passed away.
Olga graduated from High School in Chesapeake City, MD and went on to work as a dictaphone transcriptionist at Binghamton Psychiatric Center in New York, where she retired from. She was devoted to her faith and her Ukrainian heritage. She was a long term parishioner at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church where she also served as the choir director. She was a proud member of the Blue Army at Immaculate Conception in Elkton, MD. Olga loved the ocean and especially enjoyed many fond memories with her daughter, Kaethe in Ocean City, MD.
Olga is survived by her daughter, Kaethe Skye of Elkton, MD; sister, Helen Eder and her husband, Jack of Chesapeake City, MD; brother-in-law, Walter Boshonek and his wife, Joyce of Williamsburg, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
In addition to her parents, Olga was preceded in death by her four sisters and four brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Olga on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00AM at St. Basil Ukrainian Catholic Church, 231 Basil Avenue, S. Chesapeake City, MD 21915. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 6:00-8:00PM with a Panachyda prayer service beginning at 7:30PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Burial will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
