Norman Wilfong, age 69, of Chesapeake City, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026. Born on December 8, 1956, in Wilmington, Delaware, Norman was the son of the late Norman Lester Wilfong, Sr. and Maryanne (Moore) Douglas.

Norman proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1975 to 1977. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career as a Mechanical Engineer with Union Local 25. Throughout his career, he worked on many significant projects, including helping to build a nuclear power plant in Texas. He also found great satisfaction working on dredges, a career that allowed him to travel extensively while doing what he loved most—being on the water.

Norman had a deep appreciation for the water and enjoyed the many adventures his work provided. Beyond his career, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He cherished traveling with his loved ones and created countless memories that will be treasured.

Norman will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the water, his dedication to his country, and, above all, the unwavering love he had for his family.

Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Darlene K. Wilfong; his son, Norman Wilfong III; his daughter, Lisa Wilfong; his mother, Maryanne Douglas; his grandson, Alexander Ramirez II; his granddaughter, Alivia Ramirez; and his sister, Stephanie Thornton.

In addition to his father, Norman was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Wilfong.

A celebration of Norman’s life will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Chesapeake City VFW, 304 Basil Avenue, Chesapeake City, Maryland 21915. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to “Chesapeake City VFW” and send in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
