Norman Frederick Gordner, Sr., of Rising Sun, MD, died 20 August 2012.
Born in Narbeth, PA on January 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Henry Clay and Kathryn Futty Gordner. He graduated from North East High School and earned an Associates degree in Zoology from the University of Maryland. Norman proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1943-1946 and served in Korea. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 194, Rising Sun, MD. Mr. Gordner retired from the Department of Agriculture in 1983. “Storman Norman” was an avid golfer and enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was a loving, caring man with a big heart and a happy smile.
He is survived by his son Fred of Conowingo, MD and his fianc� and longtime companion, Kristin Laferte; 1 granddaughter, Kelly Rixham and 2 step-grandchildren, Kyle and Kaylin Laferte; many nephews and nieces; and his loving friend, Marie Summers from Portland, OR. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Lois Richardson Gordner; his brother Henry Gordner; and his sister Jean Temples.
A private service will be held for family and close friends at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Interment will follow in West Nottingham Cemetery.
