Nicholas E. Losten, Age 95, of New Castle DE died peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday December 20, 2017.
Mr. Losten was born on June 16, 1922 in Chesapeake City, MD, the son of the late John and Julia Losten. He worked on the family farm, “Losten’s Dairy”, & was a milk man for the wholesale-retail milk business until its sale in 1968. He then went to work for Pennsupreme Dairy until he started a second career in construction working for Weaver Pole Line Construction and Danella Construction Company. After his retirement from construction, he enjoyed working & maintaining the family farm. He was an avid goose and deer hunter, he was a leader of Future Farmers of America, and was a life member of the Chesapeake City Fire Department and a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas B. Losten; sisters, Stella Zukowsky and Mary Humen; brothers, Edward and John Losten.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores M. Losten; daughter, Michele Kanefsky (Richard) of Cherry Hill NJ; brothers, Stephen Losten of Conway AR, Michael Losten of Elkton, MD, Bishop Basil H. Losten of Stamford, CT; sister, Anne A. Losten of Chesapeake City, MD; 2 grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 11am on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Basil Ukrainian Catholic Church, 231 Basil Ave, Chesapeake City, MD 21917. Friends and family may call from 10am to 11am at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. 318 George St., Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Chesapeake City, MD.

Nick was a very determined and sincere man who never seemed to compromise or back down from the challenges of life. One memory of him goes back to the Archeparchial Sobor of 2002 when he was only 80 and was encouraged to be here for another 20 years. He quickly agreed to that goal, but certainly knew that only God can dispose what man
proposes as he must now verify.
Eternal memory and presence in Your kingdom grant to him. Let us pray for his soul
and trust that God keep His promises.
