Neil Andrews McMullen, known to family and friends alike as “Droops”, 66, of Howell, NJ passed away peacefully Friday, January 23, 2015 in Newark, DE.
Born May 12, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, Neil was the son of the late, Norman and Ruth (Whaley) McMullen. He grew up in Little Silver, NJ and graduated from Red Bank Regional High School where he played football during his Junior and Senior years. He worked as a mortgage loan officer for City Federal Savings and Loan and later for FDIC. Following his banking career, he went on to work for Home Depot in Freehold, NJ for over twelve years. Neil enjoyed watching sports, loved bowling, and was an avid fisherman; but what he loved most was spending time with his family.
Neil is survived by his daughter Aimee Spader and her husband Nick of Midlothian, VA; son, Curt McMullen and his wife, Sandee of Newark, DE along with three grandchildren, Haylee, Danica, and Donovan; and sister, Joanne Pinto.
A celebration of life will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the COPD Foundation and sent in care to R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
