Nancy Russell, age 78 of Newark, DE, passed away February 12, 2018. She was born August 17, 1939 in Elizabeth, PA to the late Robert Wayne Brown and Grace Brown.
Nancy was a graduate of Presbyterian University Hospital School of Nursing, an affiliate of the University of Pittsburgh. She was a member and former Deacon at White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Newark. Nancy loved her Philadelphia Eagles and was ecstatic that they won the Super Bowl this year. She was a Registered Nurse in the trauma step-down unit at Christiana Medical Center and was a caring, loving and compassionate nurse. Her husband of 57 years, Thomas A. Russell III, helped to spark her love for the game of golf. Nancy even scored a hole-in-one at the Rock Manor Golf Course. Thomas and Nancy played together at over 250 courses throughout the U.S. and Canada. Nancy also played in ladies’ golf leagues at Back Creek in Middletown, as well as Rock Manor in Wilmington.
In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her daughter, Sherie Roy (Keith) of Myrtle Beach, SC; son Randy Russell (Lisa) of Bear, DE; son Tom Russell (Sarah) of West Grove, PA; brother, Robert K. Brown (Janet) of Prescott, AZ; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her sister, Dawn Kight; and brother, Jim Brown.
An evening viewing for Nancy will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, where family and friends may begin to call at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “Memorial Fund of White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church” or the “ALS Foundation of Philadelphia,” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home.
