Nancy McKee Balderston Conrad, age 85 of Colora, MD passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born in Rising Sun, MD on February 13, 1927 to the late Richard Mead and Rachel (McKee) Balderston. She attended Westtown High School and later graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in Wilmington, DE. Nancy was a graduate of Drexel College where she majored in home economics and minored in clothing design and art.
Nancy enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, sewing, painting, fine arts and crafts, canning, and caning. An accomplished artist, Nancy was the illustrator and co-author of several historical books. She used her skills as a seamstress within many local charitable sewing circles. Nancy enjoyed riding motorcycles with her late husband, Leonard and they were both members of the Retreads and Harley Dressers. She also spent some time as a 4-H and Scout leader. Nancy was a life long member of West Nottingham Presbyterian Church where she was actively involved in the choir. Recently, she was involved with the Elkton Senior Center where she immensely enjoyed her bus trips from Colora to Elkton. She was also a long-time member of the Colora Quaker Meeting House. Nancy was the great, great, great, great grandchild of Betsy Ross.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Kay Conrad McMillan and her husband, Daniel of New Gretna, NJ, Jo Lynn Conrad Pinder and her husband, Thomas of Colora, MD; son, Eric Lloyd Conrad and his wife, Seung Min of Colora, MD; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Rachel McMillan McIntosh and her husband Robert, Daniel McMillan III and his wife, Kim, Chris Repaal, Chad Repaal and his wife, Sarah Lamb, and Alex Conrad; 1 step-grandchild, Shawn Pinder; 6 great grandchildren, Layla, Lawson, Jessica, Justin, Jacob, and Henry; and 2 step-great grandchildren, Karlie and Alexander.
Services will be at 11am on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, MD 21917. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10am. You may join the family in a time of fellowship following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elkton Senior Center or West Nottingham Presbyterian Church c/o R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911.
