Nancy Jean Flanagan, 79, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully at University of Maryland Medical Center on December 1, 2011.
Born in Cresaptown, MD on November 29, 1932, Nancy was the daughter of the late Oren and Lela Vanmeter Robertson. She was a graduate of Frostburg State Teachers’ College and after her marriage, moved to Cecil County where she spent the majority of her teaching career as a math teacher at the Tome School. In addition to her love of teaching, she was a avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Tina Flanagan of Elkton and Tammy Taylor and her husband Kenneth of Middletown, DE; her son, Timothy Flanagan and his wife Kathleen of Spotsylvania, VA; five grandchildren, Emily Taylor Johnson and her husband Cris, Rachel Kramer, T.J. Flanagan, Patrick Flanagan and Kathy Taylor; and a sister, Donna Davis of Middletown, DE. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Clarence Flanagan who died in 2009.
A service honoring her life will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. (formerly Gee Funeral Home), 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921 on Tuesday December 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family may call at the funeral home beginning at 12 noon. Burial will be in Harford Memorial Gardens.
