Nancy D. Groom

June 16, 1947 - December 18, 2011

Nancy D. Groom, age 64, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 after a very courageous battle with cancer.

Nancy was born on June 16, 1947 in Wilmington, DE. She was a Human Resource clerk at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. Nancy enjoyed travelling, camping and flying with her husband. She was also an avid member of Curves in Rising Sun. Nancy enjoyed having lunch with friends and was a very dedicated grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Groom of Rising Sun, MD; daughter, Leanna M. Keaton and husband Kevin of Mt. Airy, MD; mother, Harriet R. (Rogers) Durgin of Rising Sun, MD; step son, Edward B. Groom of Havre de Grace, MD; step daughters, Tracy Copenhaver and husband Doug of Elkton, MD and Mandy Groom of Elkton, MD; brother, Robert Durgin and wife Roberta of Bel Air, MD; 9 grand children; a great grand son and several nieces and nephews. Nancy will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert B. Durgin and sister, Barbara Curto.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111. S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, Rising Sun, MD. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Towson, MD.

I miss your smile, I miss your walk, I miss your touch, I miss you beside me, I miss your warmth, I miss your I Love You's, I MISS YOU!

Missing you Nance! Things are different without your smiling face. Keeping an eye on things, as you would want us to. Everyone is sad without you, but we are moving as you would want us to. Miss you my dear friend.

I knew Nancy from Perry Point. She was always smiling and had such a great outlook on life. My condolences to all of her family. You are in my thoughts and prayers but I know that now Nancy is in God's hands and will shine like a bright star in heaven.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

We were lucky to have known you. Always happy, loving ,and giving. Never an unkind word. So many fond memories... parties, camping, cookies, and the list goes on. You will be missed by everyone that was lucky enough to call you Friend. Your Family is in our hearts and prayers.

Never have I seen such a loving couple. Her and Ed! True soul mates!

I meet Nancy 8 years ago. We just moved in next door. I was mowing the grass, and her and Ed came over with flowers. It was instant firendship! * years aof Christmas together. So many cookouts, Key West with her and Ed. I love her like family, and will miss her terribly!

Nancy, always smiling, always had time to say hi, always coming up with wacky (but fun) things to do or say while preparing 4H projects. I remember spending time at her family farm for 4H meetings, going to school with her brother Bobby. Today, Heaven received a new shining star and angel in Nancy. My best to her family during this sad time.

nancy and i were in high school together..she was always happy and had that beautiful smile on her face...My deepest Sympathies to the family..just please remember She is in the loving arms of our Lord now and is safe from all harm..GOD Bless you all

I am deeply sorrowed by Nancy's passing. We went to high school together. I've called and chatted with her since she has been ill but had hoped I would have gotten to see her next week when I will be visiting family. So very sorry for your loss! She will be missed by many! I knew Nancy from working out at Curves. She had a beautiful smile and positive outlook on life. She seemed to go with the flow and didn't let trivial things bother her. She shared wonderful things about her family. I was always encouraged to see her on the curcuit and always enjoyed being with her. She will be greatly missed and warmly remembered at Curves as a woman who knew how to take life in stride and fight hard when the going gets tough. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as you face the difficult days ahead without this loving lady in your daily lives. Nancy has been a wonderful friend and I will miss her intensely. I will always remember the laughter and good times we shared over lunch at Woody's. She earned my total respect with the way she fought this terrible disease with courage, a positive attitude and always smiling. The world has been blessed by her presence.

Nancy will be very much missed by everyone who knew her. She always had that beautiful smile and such a positive outlook. Love you Nance -- so glad to have met you.
