Nancy Brinker Wells, age 93, died Sunday, November 19, 2023 in her home. She was born in Jenkintown, PA, November 16, 1930 to the late Hunter and Anne Brinker.
Nancy’s family moved to Elkton, MD in the 1930’s. Ballet, art, and the cultivation of lifelong friends dominated her early life. Fashion design took her to the University of Maryland, but it was from her 1946 high school yearbook that Stewart Wells chose his future bride. Married in 1950, Nancy found fulfillment as a homemaker and mother of two: William Stewart Wells, and Lynda Wells Bryson (Richard Bryson). Fiercely focused on her family, Nancy also devoted much energy to expanding her friendships in the community. She was president of the Junior Women’s Club, member of Eastern Star, actively involved in centennial celebrations, and a 60-year member of “That Bridge Club”.
Fortune shone on Nancy as she entered the work force as an integral part of the birth of Cecil Community College. There she blossomed. As the college grew, Nancy grew: early as an assistant registrar and later in the nursing department. Nancy’s responsibilities expanded to the admission standards and selection of prospective nurses. She basked in their love and respect. She retired after 42 years.
Nancy’s homelife was reinvigorated by the birth of two grandchildren: Gregory Bryson and Matthew Bryson (Jon Tucker). After the death of her husband Stewart in 1989, she traveled extensively in Europe, vacationed in Rehoboth Beach, DE, and attended countless auctions from which she adorned her home.
A woman of style, grace, poise, and intellect, Nancy is greatly missed by her family, her friends, and her community.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on November 27, 2023, at Elkton Presbyterian Church, 209 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may begin visiting at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at North East Methodist Cemetery. To send on online condolence, please visit, www.rtfoard.com
