Nancy A. Deputy, age 64 of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born on December 14, 1958, in Wilmington, DE to the late Claude Raymond Moffett, Sr. and Eileen (Wardell) Moffett.
Nancy grew up in Marshallton with three brothers and sisters, married in 1976 and received her diploma in 1978. Always one to love a good drive, she became a transportation professional, starting as a bus driver for Sutton Bus & Truck Co in 1984. Nancy transitioned to the University of Delaware full-time in 1991 where she especially enjoyed her time driving the late night routes, aka “the drunk loop”. She was promoted to motor pool coordinator in 1997, and in 2020 retired to spend more time with her grandchildren who brought her great joy. She enjoyed simple family time spent outside working on and enjoying her property. Nancy was very spiritual, and those who knew her can take comfort that her energy is and always will be around us.
Nancy is survived by her daughters Erika (Lance) and Angela; younger brother, Dan (Karen); younger sister, Sally (Andrew); granddaughter, Alivia; three grandsons: Elijah, John, and Raymond; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her older brother Claude R “Mickey” Moffett, Jr.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 11:00 am on December 2, 2023, at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do a good deed in Nancy’s memory.
