I remember this photo being taken. I must have only been about 2 years old, but I remember. Just like I remember so many things about Aunt Dean. She taught me to crochet, to quilt, things I still do today. She gave me my lifelong love of animals. I can still see her caring for her raccoon Charlie when we all lived in Marshallton Heights. I smile when I think of how much she loved her dog Rascal and he, in turn, loved her. But who didn't? How could you not? I think my fondest memory is of all the wonderful Christmas dinners she served on "the pool table" in the basement, in front of a roaring fire, a MUST for Aunt Dean. She loved that fireplace, and so did I. It was warm and welcoming, just like her. When you're a child, it seems most adults don't have much to say to you. The standard "how's school" type stuff, but not Aunt Dean. She really wanted to know how you were, what you were doing, what dreams you had. Although it's been a long time since I sat and talked to her, I miss her. I feel like a chapter has ended in the book of my life. But it comforts me to know, wherever you are Aunt Dean, you're making those delicious mints, your signature recipe, and sitting by the fire petting Rascal and loving your family with a twinkle in your eye. . I will always remember Nadine's laugh and how funny she was. As a kid she had me laughing and loved it when everyone came over to Mommom and Poppops when we came for a visit. My thoughts and prayers to the family.
