Myrtle R. Bell

Myrtle R. Bell, age 95, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Somerford Place in Newark, DE.

She was born July 22, 1917 in Pottstown, PA to the late Albert and Olivia Anderson Hiltwine. Myrtle loved her homes and lovingly spent her time decorating and landscaping them. During her lifetime, she lived in the following places: Pottstown, PA; Emmaus, PA; Sassamansville, PA; Toledo, OH; Stratford, CT for 40 years; and Newark, DE.

While her main love was her home, she was employed in clothing retail; and acted as a secretary and bookkeeper for the family’s Die Casting Tool Design business in Stratford, CT. She was very active in Grace Lutheran Church in Stratford, CT, serving on the Altar Guild as well as various other committees.

Myrtle is survived by her daughter Patricia O. Miller and son-in-law Edward A. Miller of Newark, DE; grandson Edward A. Miller, Jr. and wife Claire of Alpharetta, GA; grandson James B. Miller and wife Suzanne of Alamo, CA; seven great grandchildren Tony, Gaby, Justin, Tristan, Dylan, Colin and Peyton; and brother-in-law George E. Boyer of Phoenixville, PA.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband James C. Bell; brothers Leonard Hiltwine, Douglas Hiltwine, and Gordon Hiltwine; and sisters Dorothy Grabert and Mary Boyer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may visit one hour prior starting at 10AM. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions can be made in Myrtle’s honor to Vitas Hospice c/o the funeral home.
