Myrtle H. Aurig, age 102, passed away on December 15, 2020 in Elkton, MD. She was born on January 22, 1918 in New York, NY. to the late Herbert W. Hunsberger and Lidie Hunsberger (Quinn).
Myrtle graduated from Collingswood High School. She then graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pa. She worked many years in nursing at Pennsylvania Hospital and for a short time as a school nurse in Magnolia, NJ. She was married on June 14, 1941 to Theodore J. Aurig. They were married for 55 years. Ted passed away in 1996. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Collingswood, Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth. She was very active with her family at church, scouts, and school. She really enjoyed spending weekends and summers at their cottage on the Elk River in Elkton, MD.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore J. Aurig, Sr., and son, Theodore J. Aurig, Jr.; 2 brothers Herbert and David and a sister Beatrice.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter Nancy Shipley and her husband Neil, Theodore J. Aurig, Jr’s wife Debra; 3 grandchildren: Kim Hartke and her husband Ben, Kyle Shipley and his wife Nicole;and Theodore J. Aurig, III and his wife Candice; and 7 great grandchildren.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Shriners Hospital for Children” or “Jack McGovern Coats Disease Foundation” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A.,259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
