Margaret L. Wood, 83, of Conowingo, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025. Born on January 13, 1942, in Tappahannock, Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late William and Minnie (née Osborne) Wyatt and the devoted wife of Marshall Wood.
Margaret was a true country girl at heart, and her life was marked by a deep sense of pride in her family and the simple joys of life. She was known for her tireless work ethic and her nurturing, caring spirit. A talented cook, Margaret was famous for her home-cooked meals, which were always prepared with love and attention to detail. Her fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and sweet potato casserole were just a few of the dishes that delighted her family and friends over the years.
Beyond her culinary skills, Margaret was known for her great sense of humor and a playful, sometimes ornery personality, that had a way of brightening any room she entered. Margaret had a deep affection for frogs and enjoyed collecting them, a hobby that always brought her joy and added to the warmth of her home.
She will be remembered not only for her sharp wit and strong character but also for the deep love she had for her family. Margaret’s presence was a steady and comforting force in the lives of those who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and enduring love.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of many years, Marshall Wood; her children: Mark Wood and wife Sharon, Ken Wood and wife Sally, and Joe Wood and wife Michelle; grandchildren: Laura Truitt and husband Brendan, Asher Barnum and husband Robert, Joe Wood and wife Kim, and Robert Wood and wife Samantha; as well as four great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, located at 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, Maryland. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at West Nottingham Cemetery.
Margaret’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the love she shared, the meals she made, and the laughter she brought to so many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
