Elizabeth was a remarkable trailblazer and pioneer in her field. She made history as the first woman in Delaware to earn the title of Certified Property Manager and played a key role in drafting the State’s first Landlord Tenant Code. A woman of deep Catholic faith, Elizabeth was a dedicated member of Saint John’s/Holy Angels Catholic Church. She attended daily Mass for years and faithfully prayed the Rosary, embodying the values of her faith in every aspect of her life. Her compassion extended beyond her family, as she opened her home to foster children, profoundly impacting many young lives with her kindness and generosity.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved parents, her husband Louis, her siblings James, Joseph, Eleanor, Patricia and her cherished daughter Karen L. Carbine. Her legacy continues through her surviving children: Elizabeth L. Baringer; James E. Carbine and his wife, Norma; Marjorie A. Gehrmann and her husband, Robert; and Judith M. Greever and her husband, Kenneth. She is also lovingly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on May 24, 2024 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711. Following the Mass, Elizabeth will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery.
Elizabeth’s life was a testament to faith, family, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and will be forever remembered for her extraordinary contributions and the love she shared with everyone around her.
