Dorothy (Dot) Littleton passed away on September 21, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Born to George and Clara Lucille Reindollar on February 9, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland, she graduated from Washington College (Chestertown Maryland) in 1945. In 1947, she married Oliver Littleton and moved to Illinois. As the wife of a DuPont executive, she became adept at creating a home wherever she lived including Wisconsin, Delaware, Pennsylvania, the jungles of Brazil and deserts of Chile. She raised four children: Bruce Littleton, Terry Colburn (husband John Colburn), Karen Littleton (partner Colleen Mawn), and Suzanne Anderson (husband Scott Anderson, deceased). She gave birth to Bruce and Terry in Brazil, Karen in Chile, and Suzanne in Wisconsin, all the while supporting her husband with the many duties of a manager’s wife. She leaves a legacy of eight grandchildren: Jennabeth Littleton, Krista Savidge (Sean Savidge), Sarah Osiol (Adam Osiol), Ben Littleton, Kelly Parr (Mike Parr), Dana Chambers (Mike Chambers), Taylor Colburn and Kyle Colburn and five great grandchildren: Trent Littleton, Aiden and Emily Osiol, and Andrea and Connor Parr as well as beloved nephews, nieces, and grandnephews, and grandnieces.
Volunteering was central to Dot, both in Wilmington and Wisconsin (Meals on Wheels, the Wilmington Hospital, and the Three Lakes Historical Society, to name a few). She continued to work with these organizations until she was well into her 80s. Dot believed in service to the community and showing up for her neighbors.
Dot enjoyed reading, travel, playing cards and games with friends and family, dancing with Ollie, baking the world’s best pies and spending time with grandchildren. She was happiest living half the year at her Wisconsin cottage. Everyone was always welcome; she loved entertaining her friends at a moments notice. Her favorite pastimes included sunning on the dock, playing with her black labs, dinners out with the Chowder Club, services at the Chapel in the Pines, feeding the birds and chippies, and watching sunsets over Little Fork Lake with Ollie.
Services will be held at the Chapel in the Pines in Three Lakes, Wisconsin in the summer of 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to “the Chapel in the Pines” on its website, www.threelakeschapelinthepines.org
