Charlotte Eloise Whittaker (Shay), of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully on September 6, 2023. She was 85.

Charlotte was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. She married her husband George in 1961 and they have been happily married for 61 years. Together they raised a family in Rosedale, MD as she worked as a substitute teacher for many years. Once they retired Charlotte moved to VA with her husband to build a farm where their grandkids spent many summers making memories with them. In 2000 they moved back home to MD where they have spent their time spoiling their grandchildren and great grandchildren- her favorite thing to do.

Charlotte’s other passion was the Lord. Her bible was always open on the kitchen table and every Sunday morning she could be found at church. If she was not able to make it in she would have it on the computer to listen to. She never missed a service if she could help it and shared the word with anyone willing to listen.

Charlotte is survived by her husband George and 3 children Jim (Lisa) Whittaker of Rapid City, SD, Patsy West of Dundalk, MD, and Laura Whittaker of Rising Sun, MD. 5 Grandchildren- Paul and Brett (Candice) West, Jim (Stefanie) Whittaker Jr., Jessica (Forney) Buchanan, and Kacey (Lee) Jones. She is also survived by her 6 (with one on the way) great grandchildren- Finn, Cora, Lucas, Hudson, Hayden and Annabelle (Rosey as she called her) and many other family and friends who adored her.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Gateway Baptist Church -58 Foxy Court, Rising Sun, MD. Family and friends are invited to begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery
