Betty Ruth Williams, 86, of Conowingo, MD, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024. Born on June 3, 1938, in Pike County, KY, she was the cherished daughter of the late Claude and Elizabeth Laney and the devoted wife of the late Allen Williams who passed away in 2021.
Betty dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working as a housekeeper at Perry Point VA Hospital until her retirement. Coming from a proud military family, she was a passionate supporter of veterans’ causes. Betty’s commitment to her family led her to travel extensively across the United States and around the world, including stays in Bermuda, Germany, and Alaska.
A talented crafter, Betty’s skill in quilting, ceramics, and crocheting brought warmth and beauty to her family’s lives, with many of her creations becoming treasured heirlooms. Above all, she was a devoted mother, and her love and care for her family were unwavering. Betty will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen Williams, her parents, and her siblings, Doris Hill, Claude, Clanard, and Curtis Laney.
She is survived by her loving children: Fred Williams, Gary Williams, Vikie Triplett, Terry Williams, David Williams, Diann Williams, and Patty Jo Kitts; her siblings, Charles Laney and Joyce Ahl; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Brookview Cemetery.
