Alice M. Kline (nee, Gillespie) 76, of Colora, MD, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. She was born on September 11, 1947, in Tazewell, VA, the cherished daughter of the late Harmon and Lillie (nee, Reed) Gillespie and the beloved wife of 53 years to Dick Kline.
Alice was born the eldest of seven sisters. She graduated from Aberdeen High School, Class of 1965, and embarked on a career as a creative and talented floral designer at Acme Markets. Her flair for design was evident in her work, and she was highly regarded for her artistry.
Known for her culinary skills, Alice’s cooking brought joy to the hearts and palates of those lucky enough to taste her creations. Family vacations to Ocean City became cherished traditions, where fond memories were made and laughter filled the air.
Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she lovingly centered her world around them. Alice was a member of Mount Pleasant Church, where her faith was a source of strength and inspiration.
Alice’s family recalls how she made every holiday special, creating cherished moments and traditions that will endure as a testament to her love and devotion.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Becky Gillespie and Emma Bandy; step-children: Teri Jones, Blair Kline, Emmy Matthews.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dick Kline; two daughters: Heather Hege and her husband Mike, Natalie Goldsmith and her husband Duane; step-son Scott McNeil and wife Erin; grandchildren: Mackenzie, Raynee, Trever, Reese, Estella, Emilia, Alice, Dylan, Taylor, Morgan, Hudson, Colbi and Garrett; two great-grandchildren: Julian and Jakari; four sisters: Janis Gillespie, Diane Cassady, Susie Borneman, and Mary Swaim; and a special sister-in-law, Barbara Mackenzie and her husband Jim.
A celebration of Alice’s Life will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM at R. T. Foard Funeral Home – 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 AM.
