Scott Lee Edgell, aged 88, a beloved resident of Newark, Delaware, passed away on March 9, 2024. He was born in Willoughby, Ohio on January 27, 1936, the cherished son of the late Scott A. and Margery (nee, Fay) Edgell. Scott was the devoted husband of Alice Edgell.
Educationally driven, Scott earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and his MBA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. During his collegiate journey, he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, embodying principles of brotherhood and camaraderie. Scott also served his country with honor in the US Army Reserve.
With his business acumen, Scott founded and ran Edgell Associates, a part of the electronics industry. In his leisure time, Scott found joy in various pursuits. He was a masterful card player, particularly excelling at Bridge, and found solace in the tranquility of nature through his passion for fishing, often spending serene moments on at Cloverdale Lake. A natural raconteur, Scott had a knack for storytelling.
Scott was deeply engaged in his community, actively participating in various organizations. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, embodying principles of fellowship and service. Additionally, he served as a Swim Coach for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, where he shared his passion for swimming with the younger generation.
A man of faith, Scott was a dedicated member of St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, lending his rich baritone voice to the choir, enriching congregational worship experiences.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Alice Edgell; his brother, Allan Edgell; step-sons Geoffrey Turner and his wife Laura, Seth Turner and his wife Kellie; and five cherished grandchildren.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held on April 20, 2024 at 10:30AM at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, located at 10 Newark Road, Newark, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to U.S VETS National Office 800 W. 6th Street, Suite 1505 Los Angeles, CA 90017. Scott’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
