In Loving Memory of Phillip Allen Fleming
February 18, 1937 – January 23, 2024
Phillip Allen Fleming, 86, of Conowingo, MD, peacefully passed
away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Perry Point VA Hospital.
Born on February 18, 1937, in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was
the cherished firstborn of the late Carter and Gertrude ( Ramey)
Fleming and a devoted husband of 61 years to Janice Fleming.
Phillip served his country with honor as an infantryman in the US
Army from 1956 to 1960. Following his military service, he
dedicated 27 years to testing artillery shells at the Aberdeen Proving
Ground, retiring in 2007.
An enthusiast of the outdoors, Phillip found joy in fox hunting as a
long-standing member of the Mason Dixon Fox Hunting Club. His
passion extended to fishing and rabbit hunting. He also played
Washtub Bass, showcasing his deep love for Bluegrass and Old Time
Music. Phillip cherished moments with his grandchildren, creating
lasting memories exploring the great outdoors on ATVs. He also
found solace and community in attending services at Pleasant View
Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his two
beloved daughters, Rita and Wendy, as well as siblings Stanley
Fleming, Buford Fleming, Archie Fleming, and sister Rosalie Ward.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Fleming; two sisters Rhonda
Keene, Juanita Reeder; son, Bryan Fleming, and his wife Kim;
daughters, Tanya Parish, Sheila Montgomery, and husband Todd;
along grandchildren Phillip Fleming, John Montgomery, Briana
Blankenship, Maranda Severson, Michael Montgomery, Morgan
Frederick, Hunter Montgomery, McKenna Parish and 4 greatgrandchildren Ella & Evan Fleming, Brooke Blankenship, Bella
Severson
Inurnment will take place at Harford Memorial Gardens, with
services to be held at a later date. Due notice will be given. Phillip
Allen Fleming will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him,
leaving behind a legacy of service, passion, and cherished family
memories.
