GySgt John Adam “Butch” Brinkman, III of Beaufort, South Carolina passed away October 1, 2021. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on February 28, 1953, he was the son of John Brinkman, Jr. and the late Erla (Dommel) Brinkman.
John was a Marine (once a Marine, always a Marine) with a military occupational specialty in aviation ordinance. He served with honor and dignity for 24 years, 7 months and 5 days; but as John would say “who’s counting?”
After moving to Beaufort, SC, John and his wife Debora were able to spend their weekends at the beach and boating the waterways where they could closely observe the dolphins. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing karaoke and dancing with his wife. His family remembers his “larger than life” personality with a laugh that could light up any room. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Debora Kay Brinkman; father, John Adam Brinkman Jr.; brother, Todd Brinkman and his wife Vicky of North East, MD; sister, Phyllis Brinkman and her fiancé Todd Warren of North East, MD; son, Brian Brinkman of North East, MD; daughter Jonnie Ann Vidales and her husband Dimas Vidales of Jacksonville, FL; three step-sons: Joshua Koonce of Baltimore, MD, John Koonce of Indiana, Justin Koonce and his fiancé Tina Miller of PA; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
John is preceded in death by his sister, Terri Lynn Pearson.
