Harold Rhudy Mink, a resident of Elkton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born on September 30, 1930, in Peach Bottom Township, Pennsylvania, the cherished son of the late Edward and Ennis (nee, Rhudy) Mink. Harold shared 67 beautiful years of marriage with his late wife, Alta Lanta (nee, Sturgill) Mink.
A veteran of the Korean War, Harold served his country with honor in the US Army. Following his military service, he dedicated over two decades of his life as an in-house construction supervisor for W. L. Gore and Associates, Inc, earning admiration for his unwavering work ethic. Beyond his professional pursuits, Harold found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid hunter and nature enthusiast, finding solace in the great outdoors. His passion for aviation led him to pursue flying lessons and engage in building and piloting RC Model Airplanes. In his leisure time, he enjoyed restoring old cars and trucks, showcasing his skill as a true craftsman.
Among his many attributes, Harold was renowned for his captivating storytelling, leaving an indelible mark on his grandchildren who fondly remember him as a source of endless wisdom and amusement. Above all, Harold cherished his family, taking immense pride in their accomplishments and nurturing deep bonds that will endure through generations.
Harold is survived by his loving daughter, Colleen Denise Ellis, and her husband Thomas of Elkton, MD; his devoted son, Harold Robert Mink of Elkton, MD; his cherished granddaughter, Jennifer Christine Jones, and her husband Mikell; two grandsons, Paul Rhudy Ellis and his wife Laura, and Joseph Mark Ellis; as well as his three great-granddaughters, McKenzie Grace, Kailyn Averie, and Alta Jane, and great-grandson, Hudson Mark.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Harold’s life will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, 198 Appleton Road, Elkton, Maryland. His memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
